Working as an Agent in Allen, TX: One County, Four School Districts

Short answer. Allen sits entirely in Collin County, but an Allen address can be in one of four school districts. The city grew from 43,554 residents in 2000 to 104,627 in 2020 and is now largely built out, so much of the work here is resale and repeat business. Check the district by address, and choose a brokerage that supports that kind of work.

A city that grew fast and then filled in

Allen had 43,554 residents in 2000, 84,246 in 2010 and 104,627 in 2020. The whole city lies in Collin County, so there is no county-line question on the tax roll.

Growth that steep in two decades means the housing is no longer new. Compare it with Frisco or Prosper, where new construction still drives much of the work. In Allen, expect to spend more time on resale details and on staying in touch with people you have already helped.

The city name does not tell you the school district

Allen ISD serves most of the city. Parts of Allen are in Lovejoy ISD, McKinney ISD and Plano ISD. A buyer who asks about "Allen schools" has four possible answers.

Look up the district for the exact address before you describe a school to anyone, and write down what you found.

Employers, a college campus and a car-first city

Wikipedia summarizes a recent employer list for the city that is led by Allen ISD, the City of Allen and Experian. Collin College opened a technical campus in west Allen in 2020.

Allen is not a DART member and has no fixed-route transit, and US 75 and State Highway 121 carry most traffic. Clients who commute decide by drive time. Ask each one how they travel before you suggest a neighborhood. That is our reading, not a market statistic.

Small cities have few sales, so figures can swing a lot from month to month. Sales by builders and sales not listed in the NTREIS MLS are not counted. Treat this as background, not a price for any particular home, and check current figures before you quote them.
